🐰 Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to Capital Christians, who are observing Good Friday and Easter Sunday this weekend. Easter Monday is really more of a secular holiday, but good wishes to those honouring that day as well.

As readership of  THE OTTAWAN drops precipitously on Federal holidays, we’re be taking tomorrow and Monday off as well.

We’ll see you again Tuesday.

WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT

🚌 The entire O Train Line 1 may be shut down to fix the wheel assembly problems, says union. The president of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 279 said that Mayor Mark Sutcliffe did not rule out this ‘contingency plan’.  – Aedan Helmer and Joanne Laucius in the Ottawa Citizen

↪ OC Transpo hired managers who did not meet the requirements of the job, says the City’s auditor general

↪ Rideau-Jock ward councillor David Brown wants a rule that gives OC Transpo exclusivity over transit in Ottawa overturned. He thinks that bus services from municipalities bordering Ottawa should be able to service rural areas.

↪ OC Transpo is investigating replacing cloth seats on buses with hard plastic ones.

🎨 The City wants your opinon on the Nepean Creative Arts Centre refresh. The centre has been a ‘home for artists, performers, instructors and community members’ since 1990 but now the City is looking for some direction. You can answer the survey here or come to the open house April 9, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.  – City of Ottawa

🗑️ Over in Moody’s Bay, the City has outlined four options about sledding in the park. Tobogganing has been banned since 2021 after a young girl died in an accident.

The four options are:

  • 15-metre ‘thrill hill’  ($3.5 million)
  • 5.7-metre ‘bunny hill’ ($1.75 million)
  • Do both ($4.25 million)
  • Do nothing at all

You can give your opinion online until April 10.
