WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT
⛳ One of Canada’s oldest golf courses will be partially converted to housing. The Ontario Land Tribunal has approved a proposal by the Perth Golf Course to build 1,061 houses. Perth town council had avoided ruling on the plan, which sent the matter to the Tribunal. The Perth Golf Course was created in 1890. – Sarah Burtch at the Lanarkist
⚕️ Overnight beds at The Ottawa Hospital’s Maurice Grimes Lodge have been closed to out-of-town cancer patients. The Lodge was created in 1973 for people from outside Ottawa who were receiving treatment and could stay Monday to Friday rather than travel long distances. The union says it is part of ongoing cuts by the hospital. – Sabrina Bedford in the Ottawa Citizen
♿ Local businesses can now get a free temporary ramp to assist customers and employees with accessibility issues. The City, in partnership with the StopGap Foundation, is offering the lightweight, brightly coloured temporary ramps to eligible businesses on a first come, first served basis. – City of Ottawa
