WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT
🏒 Ottawa Charge will be moving to Canadian Tire Place because of Lansdowne 2.0, says report. The Charge regularly sold out former home TD Place Arena but City Council approved reducing seating by 2,000 seats anyway as part of the Lansdowne 2.0 plans. An aspect of the the City’s plan to pay for Lansdowne 2.0 was a surcharge on Ottawa Charge ticket sales, which will now not be available. – John Wawrow at the Associated Press
🚊 There are bevy of troubled transit items in the Capital to round up.
🌊 The City’s beaches and outdoor swimming pools open for the summer on Sunday. The wading pools start opening on Monday, and are staggered throughout the week. Splash pads are already open for business. – City of Ottawa
River House and Dow’s Lake, both run by the National Capital Commission, are already open.
🗳️ Ottawa Civic Election
Joanne Chianello, candidate for Kichissippi ward, suggests that residents be able to register their car with the City and then be permitted to park anywhere with a meter, up until the stated time limit. Car owners would pay an annual fee for the privilege. – Brigitte Pellerin in the Ottawa Citizen

THE DAILY POLL
Will you follow the Charge to the Canadian Tire Centre?
▪️ “If Ford hadn’t done away with Speed Cameras things would be a lot safer. With the elimination of bus monitors more parents will be driving their kids, thus more cars and more mayhem. Two very bad decisions.”
▪️ “I feel like closing the street in front of the school may just push the issue further down the street. We should try Bike Buses or actually funding the bus system.”
▪️ “Well we wouldn’t have had to create street safety zones if our tool at the helm of this province didn’t remove speed cameras in school zones.”
▪️ “Hear me out here — drive-in schools. Like a drive-in theatre, but education! Eh? Ehhhh?”
▪️ “It is a good concept but may not be practical if the school is on an arterial or main road, with no obvious place for thru traffic to be redirected.”
▪️ “What plans are there to make it easier and safer for children to walk/bike to school? Why are people driving their children to school in the first place? Maybe they should put in ‘No Stopping’ zones for two blocks in every direction around the school.”
▪️ “Absolutely it is! More kids should be walking/ biking to school for their health & the environment so this should happen at every school, not just two.”
▪️ “Yes!!! There have been too many accidents and fatalities this year alone. As a teacher, it feels like we have to fight to explain why our pickup procedure is so regimented but it's all for student safety.”
▪️ “A street closed to traffic is a street opened to people. Paris has created more than 300 rue aux écoles, and for good reasons.”

BUT, ONE MORE THING ...
NarCity Ottawa always has a way with headlines. ‘8 classic OC Transpo experiences that only Ottawa locals will truly understand’ certainly drew us in. Your experience may vary, but to Alessa Hickman it is ‘Witnessing the different OC Transpo eras’, ‘Surviving the Tunney’s Pasture swarm’, ‘Getting to the station only to discover it’s an R1 day’, ‘Watching your bus drive right past you’, ‘The mystery of “the "ghost bus”’, ‘Walking because it’s somehow faster’, ‘The art of fare evasion’, and ‘Experiencing the rare perfect commute’.
