WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT
🛢️ The good news: Lac Leamy has been deemed safe after the mysterious hydrocarbon spill. The bad news: swimming there is banned due to E. Coli. While what was actually spilled into the water is still unknown, water testing has found it not harmful. But the water testing also found high levels of E. Coli, so, swings and roundabouts until further notice. – CBC
🚧 Woodroffe Avenue between Richmond Road and Deschênes Street will be closed for three months, beginning Sunday night. The closure is for replacing sewers but also for parts of the Revitalizing Richmond Road project. Note that this is the bit between Carling and Byron, beside Carlingwood Shopping Centre, not the major part of Woodroffe. – City of Ottawa
💰 Every month, CTV looks at how much income was needed to buy a house in Ottawa last month. This time the news is that you’d need a $1,900 per year raise. The average house price in June was $634,300, up from $629,800 in May, requiring a $135,960 salary for a typical mortgage. – Josh Pringle at CTV
🛒 Every week, @stromanker reads all the local grocery flyers and posts the deals on Ottawa Reddit. This week, he highlights bacon at $3.33/375g (Food Basics) and $4.44/500g (Walmart), cabbage 67c/lb (Produce Depot), and pork chops $2/lb (Real Canadian Superstore). – /Ottawa
