↪ ‘Lansdowne 1.0: What went right, what went wrong’.
🛣️ The very weird speed limits on Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard in Orléans will be straightened out if City Council agrees. In the short 7.5 km strip, the road has six different speed limits, jumping from 40 to 60 to 50 to 40 to 60 km/h (going west). Council will vote on reducing the changes to only three this week. – Josh Pringle at CTV
🔎 Someone has been placing fake QR codes on parking meters in the city. The manager of parking services, Scott Caldwell, says that 51 of of 616 parking meters have had the sticker affixed. Unsuspecting parkers who use their smartphone to access the QR code are taken to a fake PayByPhone website which collects the credit card information. Besides being scammed, parkers are then at risk for a parking ticket as they didn’t actually pay for the meter.– Aaron D’Andrea at Global News
↪ Ottawa ByLaw has issued 3,000 parking tickets in Westboro, Wellington West, and Hintonburg since the introduction of paid street parking two months ago.

THE DAILY POLL
Do you still have a landline?
▪️ “They are important, and we need more; however, they do hinder cars and public transit. There has to be a better way to transition rather than just making everyone mad. Bulk up public transport first then phase in bikes and phase out cars.”
▪️ “Drivers should be in favour of bike lanes too; every cyclist in a bike lane is a driver that isn’t making competing traffic for other drivers, and isn’t a cyclist in the road slowing traffic down.”
▪️ “And don't get me started on electric bikes and scooters.”
▪️ “Doug Ford is awful.”
▪️ “Road paint is not infrastructure but I suppose something is better than nothing. And, I wish bike lane opponents understood the true benefit of bike lanes to ALL road users.”
▪️ “Bike lanes are important, however, they need to be done properly. Cyclists are not the top priority for local traffic management.”
▪️ “I ride my bike much more often and all year round cause it is much safer than it used to be because of protected bike lanes - particularly in the downtown core.”
▪️ “You cannot put the toothpaste back in the tube! Traffic is a nightmare in this city, and public transit is unreliable. People need real options!”
▪️ “Bike lanes are a game changer for sustainable transportation.”
▪️ “Every bike you encounter while driving your car is potentially one less car adding to traffic. If you drive a car, you should thank cyclists.”
▪️ “All the studies in North America and around the world show that bike lanes are cheap options that reduce congestion (yes even if it snows during the year). This government is not serious about transportation and ignores the experts.”
▪️ “The majority of bike users do not respect the rules of the road, so keep them off the road, and on bike only routes. Policing the bike users who do not follow the lights/stop signs or use signals should be fined the same as vehicles drivers.”
▪️ “I neither drive nor cycle, so I have no particular pony in this race. But as someone who walks and takes public transit to get around, I'm in favour of as much choice as possible. That includes biking.”
▪️ “I hate bike lanes all over the city as it makes it dangerous for both the bike and car drivers. Our roads are not wide enough.”
▪️ “Cyclists use bike lanes for transportation; the safer it is made to cycle the more people choose that option; one more bike in a lane is one car on the road less. We all gain from bike lanes.”
