⚕️Ottawa Public Health has closed its ByWard Market safe injection site after the Province refused its renewal. Ottawa Public Health had operated the site for eight years but unless the provincial Minister of Health permitted an exemption from drug laws, which was not forthcoming, it was required to close September 30. – Charlie Senack in the Kitchissippi Times
🚊 The Ottawa Bulldog notes that the extended 30 day testing period of Toronto’s troubled new light rapid transit line is a direct result of the O Train’s construction woes. 🤖 Six departments of the Federal government will pilot the use of an artificial intelligence translation tool. The departments that will use the new tool to translate document between English and French are Public Services and Procurement Canada, Privy Council Office, Department of Finance, Canadian Heritage, Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. – Jayden Dill at CBC
🛫 Porter Airlines has announced new routes from Ottawa to Phoenix and Miami. Flights to Miami will begin January 24, three times per week. Flights to Phoenix will begin February 7, also three times per week.
Earlier this week, Porter announced a codesharing agreement with American Airlines, making it easier to book seamless connecting flights with that airline.

↪ ViaRail has paused plans to drop Cornwall, Brockville, Kingston, and Belleville from four of its runs. Those four routes didn’t go through Ottawa, and were intended to cut Toronto – Montréal travel times by 30 minutes.
