THE DAILY POLL
What announcement do you hope the Prime Minister makes about 24 Sussex Drive tomorrow?
▪️ “Data centres are unmanned. You can't even make the argument that it’s going to provide jobs in the area. Literally what is the benefit to Ottawans? Higher power bills? Be so for real. Reject them all.”
▪️ “Everyone knows they’re a huge power drain that raises energy costs for everyone but themselves. They use water at alarming rates. They’re noisy and an eyesore. Why would we want them? Even tiny Texas towns are saying no.”
▪️ “Has Ottawa Hydro figured out yet how it’s going to provide the electricity to power OC Transpo’s electric buses yet? Until they can do that, they have no business talking about other projects that exceed their capacity.”
▪️ “The AI bubble can’t pop fast enough. Hoping AI goes the way of NFTs.”
▪️ “AI will be a huge part of our future but much like the Web 1.0, there will be a bust or correction. Hold on to your butts!”
▪️ “Power to the People!”
▪️ “AI is not the future, but, at the very least, these tech companies should have to pay for the energy required and the building of the infrastructure required to produce that energy (not to mention funding environmental mitigation).”

BUT, ONE MORE THING ...
Jack Hanna in the Centretown Buzz has a look back at the work of Thomas Burrowes, a self-taught painter who captured the essence of ByTown in the 1820s to 1840s.
By day, Burrowes was an engineer working for Colonel By, building the Rideau Canal. With a pregnant wife, Burrowes built the first cabin in Bytown, where Grace gave birth three days later. Their cabin is now the location of the Confederation Building between Kent and Lyon Streets
