WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT
βοΈ Ottawa Police Board violated freedom of expression, says Small Claims court. Critics took the Board to court after it changed the rules for public meetings, requiring delegations to register 24 hours in advance. The court found that the board was flexible to delegates who were supportive of the police but missed the deadline, yet strict with critics. Another claimant delegation was not allowed to switch the designated speaker when the original one became unavailable. The court awarded the claimants $2,500.
The Ottawa Police Service Board has not said if it will change its rules. – Arthur White-Crummey at CBC
βͺ ‘Cram the cruiser’ is an uncharacteritically great name coined by the Ottawa Police Service for their food drive. Officers will be at Sobeys, 5150 Innes Road, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm tomorrow, helping shopping fill up their police cruiser with items for the food bank. Items should be non-perishable, not just for the food bank, but because the constables do need to drive the cruiser later.
