NUMBER
The amount of money that the City is proposing to charge landscapers for an annual licence. There would also be an additional $60 fee to issue the licence.
City staff are advocating for the licence to combat problems created by landscapers who are unfamilar with local bylaws.

Buckson has been publishing Ottawa Construction News for 35 years, after it was born in a Smiths Falls hotel room. And he still makes it available in print.
QUOTE
– Ottawa Senators owner, Toronto billionaire Michael Andlauer, when asked how much the team will be paying the National Capital Commission for land on LeBreton Flats for a new area.
SPORTS
Yesterday’s CHL soccer note situated Atlético Ottawa’s opponents in Calgary. Valour is, of course, the pride of Winnipeg.

Plus the Committee of Adjustment meets at 1:00 pm.

🛻 Two convoy leaders have been sentenced to 12 months at home. Tamara Lich and Chris Barber were both convicted of mischief, amongst other charges, earlier this year for their roles in the 2022 occupation of downtown Ottawa. The two will spend 12 months at home, followed by six months of a 10:00 pm curfew plus 100 hours of community service. The Crown had asked for eight years of jailtime. – CBC
☎️ Tranferring 911 calls to other cities has proven popular in Ottawa. A new report for the City’s emergency preparedness and protective services committee shows that residents call Ottawa 911 between 75 and 80 times per month to reach 911 services in other North American cities. The project was instigated by Ottawa local Michael Wood who lobbied the City to create the service. – Josh Pringle at CTV
🛞 A former nunnery on Heron Road will be the first of six Federal properties to be converted to housing using modular buildings. The former Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame site was used as a training centre for Federal public employees until 2014, when it was vacated. – Arthur White-Crummey at CBC
🍄 Ottawa Police have charged nine people for selling magic mushrooms from storefront magic mushroom stores. Police seized $10,000 and 14 kg of mushrooms. The stores had been selling the mushrooms – officially, psilocybin – for years but in recent weeks several of the shops had been targeted for arson. – Natasha O’Neill

Do you agree with Tamara Lich and Chris Barber’s sentence?
Previously in ottawan polls:
We asked, ‘Should the City of Ottawa transfer the O Train to Metrolinx?’
Commentary
▪️ “Certainly can’t trust Ford to keep his promises.”
▪️ “Honestly, I think it would be much better if the Government of Ontario would fund public transit to the same rate as it does in the GTA but you can’t fix stupid ...”
▪️ “It’s clear that RTG has been luke-warm at best in managing the LRT. Who’s Luke you might ask? He’s the person that is the reason the LRT sucks right now.”
▪️ “Metrolinx can’t find it’s ass with two hands and a roadmap. Let’s not find new and exciting ways to make OCTranspo worse.”
▪️ “Public Transport? Don't get me started.”
▪️ “Somebody needs to fix the mess with public transit in Ottawa.”
▪️ “They don't need to reinvent transit, so maybe consultation with those who know how to make it work. Metrolinx has its own issues we don’t need here.”
▪️ “And good luck to Doug and his band of merry men!”
