The amount of money the City spent on lawyers, auditors, and internal costs to investigate allegations of non-compliance after the last election.
At issue was an underreporting of $310 in campaign expenses by Capital ward councillor Shawn Menard and $947.24 by campaigning group Horizon Ottawa that allegedly should have been reported as a ‘third party advertiser’.
Menard says he made a clerical error, Horizon Ottawa disagrees with the findings and says ‘the audit process had been ‘weaponized’ against it’.

β’οΈ Owner of Kanata medical manufacturer says he can’t afford the $1.8 million guarantee ordered by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission. Best Theratronics holds a nuclear licence to use Cobalt-60 radioactive isotopes for some of its products, but says it cannot afford the bond it is required to post to cover the costs of clean up in the event it needs to be decommssioned. The owner also says that he cannot hire enough skilled employees and may move the company to the United States or India . – Campbell MacDiarmid at CBC
π Gatineau says that the buses will not run if supervisors and inspectors go on strike Monday. Initially, it was assumed that service may be disrupted but would still be offered. However, the Société de transport de l'Outaouais now says that it would not be safe to run the buses. Meanwhile the bus drivers are checking their legal options as they will not be paid during this period, despite the fact that they are not striking. – CBC

After 400 days, Ladybug, a six-year-old American bulldog mix, has been adopted from the Ottawa Humane Society.
Ladybug arrived at the Society in August 2024 ‘lost, alone, and pregnant, with a mass on her foot’, ultimately requiring her leg to be amputated.
Even though Ladybug may have had the longest stay on the row, the Society has 10 dogs, 49 cats, and 28 ‘others’ available for adoption right now.
