▪️ “It’s rare I buy paperback books. Maybe a couple for holiday giving each year but that’s it. I find them as well as all printed magazines etc super expensive. It had to be something spectacular or a special edition before I fork over my hard earned pens.”

• ✳️ Broadway Across Canada’s production of Mamma Mia! Starts its limited run tonight at National Arts Centre. Continues until Sunday 

• Start the day with the 10:00 am Chamberfest Masterclass: Isaac Chalk (viola) at 10,000 Hours Piano Rehearsal Studios (Vanier). This year’s uOttawa Nichole Senécal Prize Winner Nathaniel Mears (percussionist) gives his Chamberfest debut concert at the NAC at noon (Downtown). Experience music for two violists as Isaac Chalk and David Marks perform in the NAC’s Rossy Pavilion this afternoon at 4:00 pm. Get behind the scenes insight from composer, singer-songwriter, and pianist Bariel Kahane and violinist Pekka Kuusisto in the Chamber Chat at 5:30 pm, then at 7:00pm, experience their concert (Centretown).

• Chamberfest begin’s the day’s programming at noon with a two-part tribute to Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra’s former leader and violinist Jeanne Lamon, by Yolanda Bruno (violin), Pasale Giguère (violin), and Christina Mahler (cello). The program of Baroque trios will feature pieces by Jean-Marie Leclair, Antonion Vivali, and Lamon’s arrangement of Bach’s Chaconne. After an intermission, there will be a screening of The Immortal Serafin, about Lamon’s violin. Next, snag what is likely your first opportunity to hear Poiesis Quartet in action.
