WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT
🗳️ After losing the Gatineau mayoral election, Mario Aubé is leaving his civic party, ‘Mario Aubé’. Gatineau not only has parties at the municipal level, this party was named after its founder. Councillor Timmy Jutras has been appointed as the new Mario Aubé of Mario Aubé. Aside from Aubé the man, Mario Aubé the party did well in the recent election, winning 7 of the 20 council seats. – CBC
🦫 The Rideau Canal National Historic Site will receive $36.2 million for infrastructure upgrades from the Federal government. Parks Canada will use the money for projects at Lock 14 in Manotick, the Brass Point Bridge near Kingston, and Clowes Weir near Burritts Rapids. – Natasha O’Neill at CityNews
🚰 Well users can relax slightly – but only slightly – says the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority. The recent rain has helped replenish the water tables, which has been under a Level 3 warning since September. At Level 3, the Authority advised well users to avoid using water for anything but essential needs. Now at Level 2, it advises cutting water use back by 20 per cent from usual. – Natasha Baldin in the Ottawa Citizen

THE DAILY POLL
Will you be attending any Ottawa Black Bears lacrosse matches this season?
🔘 Yes, Lacrosse is Canada’s official summer sport so I must support it this winter
🔘 No, I’m not interested in lacrosse
🔘 Maybe. I enjoy sports that play in arenas that are far too large for their fanbase
🔘 Of course, I want to see the Champions Cup of the National Lacrosse League come home

Commentary
▪️ “Good for Ottawa!”
▪️ “Pretty annoying and ironic that the cup is named after a man though.”
▪️ “A better question about the very successful Charge would be, will they stay in Ottawa? Where would they go in the NCR?”
▪️ “I will allow myself to be pleasantly surprised.”
▪️ “Go Charge!”
▪️ “Charge forward for the cup!!!!”

BUT, ONE MORE THING ...
This is an odd tale.
In The Walrus, Katharine Lake Berz has the story of Montréaler Amarjot Singh who has been fighting accusations in India that he is a terrorist, accused of leading the mob that threw two grenades into the High Commission of India on Springfield Road in March 2023.
Don’t remember that? Nobody else does either. The news items of the day report a quiet, uninteresting protest, with attention mostly being paid to a visiting US President Joe Biden. But that hasn’t stopped Singh from being hunted by India’s National Investigation Agency.
