WHAT OTTAWA IS TALKING ABOUT
💥 An off-duty City employee has been confirmed as involved in a crash into a barber shop that killed one man. The City says that a City employee was involved in the crash but has not given specifics on what role. The Ottawa Police Service has arrested a 57 year-old woman for impaired driving after the crash into CuTzz Barber Salon on McArthur Avenue in Vanier. – Natasha Baldin in the Ottawa Citizen
↪ The area around Whispering Point at Kìwekì Point damaged by a wayward school bus last year is now closed to the public for repairs.
📒 The City is looking for suggestions on what residents would like to see at Amberway Park, now that the City officially owns it. The Stittsville park was created 68 years ago but, due to a clerical error, most of it had remained owned by the seller’s heirs unbeknownst to them - and the City. The paperwork was sorted out a few months ago. Take the survey on what should be done. – Glen Gower
🚨 The Ottawa Police Service has shut down an illegal after-hours club in Nepean. During the raid in the wee hours of last Sunday, 125 people were evacuated from a converted space in a commercial building kitted out for DJs and events. Police also seized alcohol and cigarettes and arrested one person for obstruction of justice. – Ted Raymond at CTV

THE DAILY POLL
When will you turn the heating on?
Commentary
▪️ “The Ottawa Citizen (was The Journal) for over 50 years. And just recently cancelled paper delivery converting to epaper. But sometimes buy the Globe & Mail because there is nothing like holding a paper and sipping a cuppa! LOVE!”
▪️ “For the NYT games and news!”
▪️ “We have an online subscription but I really miss reading the paper version of the Globe & Mail, specially the weekend edition. I feel i knew more about a variety of topics than i do now. But the crossword puzzle online is so much easier …”
▪️ “Also, the Citizen and the NYT. Beyond the listed options, also the Washington Post, The Guardian, and The Atlantic.”
▪️ “I needed multiple selections! I get print copies of the Globe & Mail and Ottawa Citizen. I have online subscriptions to the Toronto Star and New York Times. Supporting traditional media is important to me.”
▪️ “Digital version.”
▪️ “I only get the paper for the puzzles.”
▪️ “We get an actual paper copy that automatically comes with the online edition. Still enjoy Sunday mornings, with a nice pot of tea and reading the paper. I also still enjoy hard copy books but have two Kobos and also use my iPad to read books.”
▪️ “Fondly recall the days when we got the Ottawa Journal and the Ottawa Citizen. Unfortunately, the Citizen is not what it used to be even 15 years ago!”
▪️ “Not giving my money to an American owned Postmedia publication.”
▪️ “I subscribe to the Citizen, however I am becoming increasingly dissatisfied with both the content and ‘value-for-money’. Many of the articles seem to come from outside sources and local coverage in many areas is shoddy at best.”
▪️ “I only get THE OTTAWAN, LOL.”
▪️ “No! I’m nearly 70, but it’s not the 70s.”
▪️ “We still have Globe & Mail delivered, as well as Sunday NYT. The Globe, especially, is one of the few remaining papers that still does quality investigative journalism.”
