πΌοΈ The Churchill portrait thief has lost an appeal of his sentence, and will try again at Supreme Court. Jeffrey Wood was convicted of stealing the Yousuf Karsh portrait of Winston Churchill, ‘The Roaring Lion’, from the Château Laurier hotel between Christmas 2021 and early January 2022. He was eventually tracked down, in part, by using his own name on an Amazon delivery of the cheap, replacement poster and sentenced to two years in prison. Wood’s lawyer argued that the judge had erred in ‘improperly relying on international law’. – CBC
